“Best African Music Category Created by Grammy Awards is Because of me”- Burna Boy

Nigerian star, Damini Ogulu popularly known as Burna Boy, recently said that he feels responsible for the introduction of the “Best African Music Performance” Category by Grammy Awards

In an interview, the Grammy winner stated that he believes his musical achievements might have influenced the Academy’s decision to recognize African music in a distinct category.

In his words,

“I do feel somewhat responsible for the new ‘Best African Music Performance’ category, which is nice. At the same time, what is it? Is it a consolation category? Will it hold as much prestige? I’m waiting to see.”

Burma Boy has been having a good time in the musical scene lately and has never failed to blow his trumpet at any given opportunity.

His rise to global prominence has been remarkable, and his contributions to the contemporary music scene have significantly elevated the Afrobeats genre onto the international stage.

Shutting down stadiums with thousands of capacity has become a norm for him, after he sold out stadiums in Europe and Paris for his concerts.
