Akwa Ibom State: 9-year-old Prodigy Mmekudmfon Effiong Wins National Creative Writing Contest

In a remarkable display of talent and creativity, 9-year-old Mmekudmfon Wilfred Effiong, a bright pupil from Mobil Pegasus Schools in Akwa Ibom, has emerged as the winner of the highly competitive National Creative Writing Competition. The event, which took place on August 5th, 2023, witnessed Mmekudmfon achieving an extraordinary score of 32.7, surpassing all other participants, including the first and second runners-up.

The National Creative Writing Competition, organized by the esteemed Raising Young Authors, received participation from students representing various schools across all states of the Federation. This widely celebrated initiative, generously sponsored by NNPC, Total Energy, SPDC, and Agip Ventures, aims to foster and encourage young writers, enabling them to pursue their dreams of becoming celebrated authors in the future.

Expressing her overwhelming gratitude, Mmekudmfon extended her heartfelt appreciation to God, her teachers, and her parents. She attributed her success to the unwavering support and guidance she received from her teachers, who dedicated their time and expertise to nurture her writing skills. Mmekudmfon also acknowledged her parents’ constant encouragement, even during moments of exhaustion and self-doubt. “I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to participate in the National Creative Writing Competition. The exceptional training and guidance I received from my dedicated teachers, who carved out time from their busy schedules to drill me, and the unwavering encouragement from my amazing parents, have propelled me to this moment. Winning first place in the state was an enormous honor, but to emerge as the national champion is truly humbling. I extend my deepest gratitude to the organizers and sponsors of this event for the beautiful prize I received. Thank you,” Mmekudmfon expressed with a sense of pride and joy.

At the end of the academic session at Mobil Pegasus Schools, she received numerous awards at the prestigious Award Of Prizes ceremony. Her exceptional abilities were recognized and rewarded as she claimed the titles of Best in Literacy, Best in Sciences, Best in Mathematics, Best in Social Studies, Best in English, and emerged as the overall top student in her fourth-grade class. Her consistent academic excellence and remarkable achievements serve as a testament to her exceptional talent and dedication.
