Cross River Navy Rescues Paramount Ruler amid Tragic Loss of Ten Lives

Naval sources in Calabar, Cross River State have officially confirmed the tragic demise of ten individuals, whose identities remain undisclosed. This unfortunate incident occurred during a meticulously executed operation that ultimately led to the successful rescue of HRH Etinyin Lawrence Nya Edet, the Paramount Ruler of Akpabuyo Local Government Area (LGA) in Cross River State.

The circumstances surrounding this harrowing event suggest that the ten individuals encountered naval forces while attempting to transport their captive, the kidnapped Paramount Ruler, across the Cross River. The route of their ill-fated journey involved navigating the Oron River to reach Akwa Ibom State.

It is speculated that a ransom negotiation was underway with the victim’s family when the naval intervention transpired. The Navy, is believed to have sustained no casualities

HRH Etinyin Lawrence Nya Edet, who is confirmed to be unharmed, is currently under medical care at a facility in Calabar. His abduction took place on December 11, 2023, within the confines of his residence in Esuk Mba, Akpabuyo LGA—a locality that has gained notoriety within Cross River State as a known haven for kidnappers.
