Chelsea is reportedly eyeing a January transfer move for Victor Osimhen, 24, who sits atop Todd Boehly’s wishli. The club, currently 10th in the Premier League, seeks to bolster its striking options following a lackluster previous season. With a notable gap from the top spot, Chelsea officials believe a top-tier striker could significantly enhance Mauricio Pochettino’s squad.
TalkSPORT suggests that Chelsea has received a positive indication regarding Osimhen’s potential availability from Napoli in January. However, securing the prolific striker may come at a steep price, as the Serie A champions are likely to demand a substantial £120 million.
Chelsea, under Boehly’s ownership since May 2022, has already invested £1 billion in transfers.
The club’s commitment to bolstering its squad is evident in recent high-profile signings. Enzo Fernandez arrived in a £107 million deal in January, while Moises Caicedo secured a record-breaking £115 million move to Stamford Bridge in August.
Should Chelsea proceed with the acquisition of Osimhen, he would emerge as the Premier League’s most expensive player.
Chelsea is not alone in expressing interest in Osimhen; other Premier League clubs, including Arsenal and Manchester United, have also been linked with the Napoli striker. Osimhen’s impressive track record, highlighted by 31 goals across all competitions last season and six goals in 11 appearances this term, has undoubtedly attracted attention from multiple contenders in the transfer market.
