Yusuf Alli: ex Long Jump Star to Head Committee for National Track Trials, Ahead Budapest 2023 World Athletics Championship

Former international track and field star Yusuf Alli, has been selected by The Athletics Federation of Nigeria ( AFN) to head the national committee to organise Nigeria’s national team selection trials for the 2023 Budapest World Athletics Championship slated for August 19 to 27. The national trials is expected to hold at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium Benin City, Edo state.

Alli, who is the current Chairman of Edo State Sports Commission, is not only best known for his gold medal jump at the 1990 Commonwealth Games, but catapulted into fame a year earlier when he did an impressive record-breaking Jump of 8.27m at the 1989 African Championships held in Lagos

The committee for the Budapest 2023 World Athletics selection trials includes Samuel Onikeku (Technical Director), Victor Okorie (Performance Director), Navy Commodore Nesiama Omatseye, Prof. Ken Anugweje, Enefiok Udo-Obong, Maria Wophill, Henry Okorie, Solomon Aliyu and Rita Mosindi, the AFN Secretary General.
