Chimamanda Adichie: Bestselling Author’s Book “Notes On Grief”, Wins Indie Award

Bestselling author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has received the Indie Book Award for her non-fiction book “Notes On Grief.

The book, which reflects on the loss of her father, was praised by the judging panel for its powerful and universal portrayal of the grieving experience. Adichie expressed her gratitude and hope that the book brings comfort to others who have experienced grief. The award was presented to her on 24th June, 2023.

Barbara Kingsolver’s novel “Demon Copperhead” won the fiction category. The book, a clever reinterpretation of Charles Dickens’s “David Copperfield,” impressed the judges with its compelling storytelling and important themes.

In the children’s fiction category, Steadman’s “Skandar And The Unicorn Thief” emerged as the winner. This epic adventure featuring unlikely heroes, magical elements, and ferocious unicorns captured the hearts of readers.

Jarvis was honored with the picture book prize for “The Boy With Flowers In His Hair.” The beautifully illustrated story about being there for someone in their most vulnerable moments resonated with many.

The Indie Book Awards celebrate the achievements of independent booksellers who champion these outstanding works. Emma Bradshaw, head of campaigns at the Booksellers Association, extended congratulations to all the winners and emphasized the enjoyment readers of all ages will find in these books.
