#SierraLeoneDecides2023: Emulate Nigeria’s Peter Obi’s Virtues, Saro Politicians Urged

SIERRALEONE- The Chairman of the Political Parties Regulations Commission (PPRC) in Sierra Leone, Abdulai Bangura, has called on the nation’s politicians to follow the example set by Nigeria’s Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and conduct themselves peacefully amidst ongoing elections.

Bangura made this statement during a joint press conference held by the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone (ECSL), the Office of National Security (ONS), and the PPRC in Freetown on Sunday. The conference addressed various concerns raised by stakeholders regarding the elections that took place on Saturday throughout the West African country. As voters eagerly await the results, the tallying of votes continues across the different regions.

The PPRC chairman praised Peter Obi’s actions following his electoral loss, noting that despite having widespread support from prominent Nigerian figures, Obi did not incite his followers to violence when the results were not in his favor. Instead, he chose to pursue legal avenues, thereby preventing chaos in Nigeria.

Bangura urged Sierra Leone’s politicians to learn from Obi’s exemplary leadership and maintain peace during the electoral process.
