10,000 Participants Expected in Akwa Ibom as State Ambitiously aims for Africa’s New Tech Hub Status

From October 30 to November 5, 2023, about 10,000 participants from all over, are expected to gather at the unveiling of Akwa Ibom State of Nigeria as Africa’s New Tech Destination”, Ibom Innovation Network Ltd recently stated

While 3000 participants will attend live, over 7000 others are expecetd to join the conference via online streaming platforms. The event tagged “Ibom Tech Week 2.0.” is designed to showcase the innovation, talents and product items of world class values. Also industry players, regulators, innovators, and other stakeholders with the desire to invest in the project are expected to make appearances

The organizers also mentioned that experts and resource persons will be at the event to lend their support and share their experiences garnered over the years in the field of science and technology

They include; Kachif Innuwa Abdullahi DG National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Oswald Osaretin Guobadia Former Senior Special Assistant on Digital Transformation to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Deji Sarumi of Tech Hive Advisory, Aniedi Udo-Obong, Programme Manager at Google; and Mark Essien, the Founder of Hotels.ng, Richmond Bassey of Bamboo, Idorenyin Obong of Grey amongst others”. He said

Essien listed highlights of the event to include Keynote speeches from renouned experts who will share their experiences, insights and predictions for the future of technology.

In his words” Engaging Panel Discussions: Thought-provoking discussions will delve into various tech-related topics, including artificial intelligence, blockchain, cybersecurity, fintech, and more.

The signals out of Akwa Ibom are positive and bright. This optimism is driven by decades of sustained aviation development, investment in power generation, road network infrastructure, security and a technology innovation ecosystem that has produced the best of talents on the continent”, he said.

“Interactive Workshops: Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in hands-on workshops, gaining practical skills and knowledge in emerging technologies.

“ Promising startups will showcase their innovative solutions, attracting potential investors, partners, customers, and above all, increase awareness through insights on improved industrialization.

“Networking Opportunities: Opportunity to connect with industry leaders, entrepreneurs, and like-minded individuals, fostering collaborations and expanding professional networks”

The organizers however, bemoaned the challenges encountered which include, funding, infrastructural deficit, insecurity, data management, lack of proper documentation, increasing cyber bullying have sadly hindered the intended growth of the scheme.
