Popular Nigerian human rights lawyer, Effiong Inibehe, has called out President Bola Tinubu following his nomination of some former governors and corrupt politicians for ministerial positions.
Inibehe took to his Twitter handle to say that it appears that President Tinubu has made up his mind to organize a carnival for thieves.
He wrote,
“It appears Mr Tinubu has made up his mind to organise a carnival for ‘thieves’. That is the way I see it. If you look at most of the nominees, especially the governors, they are individuals who have corruption baggage. Many of them have ongoing corruption cases”.
Recall that on July 27, 2023, President Tinubu forwarded a list of 28 nominees to the red chamber for screening and confirmation.
The list included politicians such as Nyesom Wike, David Umahi, Simon Lalong, Gboyega Oyetola, Atiku Bagudu, Festus Keyamo, and Nasir El-Rufai, amongst others.
Sources disclosed that if the ministerial nominees are confirmed, Tinubu would have the largest cabinet in Nigeria’s democratic history. The new cabinet, as gathered, will consist of 42 Ministers and 20 Special Advisers.
