Olubadan: Kingmakers Nominate Oba Owolabi Olakulehin as 43rd Monarch

News of the next Olubadan broke out today Friday as kingmakers, also known as the Olubadan-In-Council, nominated Oba Owolabi Olakulehin as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland.

The ancient symbolic throne of the Yoruba race became vacant on Thursday, March 14, 2024, after the passing of Oba Lekan Balogun, who reportedly reigned for two years before ascension at age of 81 years.

The kingmakers agreed on selecting Oba Olakulehin as the next Olubadan at a meeting called by Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Chief Rashidi Ladoja, in Ibadan, Oyo state

Reportedly nominated by the Osi Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Gbadamosi Adebimpe, the new monarchs name is expected to be sent to the state governor, Seyi Makinde, for approval.
