OWERRI – Imo state specialist hospital Umuguma has advised the general public to come pick up deceased bodies of their loved ones as the intuition would be carrying out mass burial of unclaimed bodies soon.
The authorities of the health institution was forced to give a deadline following large number of abandoned bodies found at the hospital’s mortuary.
The Chief Medical Director, Dr. Kaunda Ibebuike, in a statement yesterday, urged those whose relatives are missing to check the mortuary within the specified period.
He further stated that if the bodies remained unclaimed, the management would have to conduct mass burial.
“The public are by the notice advised to go and remove their loved ones abandoned at the mortuary.
“Others who are in search of missing relations should as well check the mortuary before the end of the three weeks’ deadline slated for the mass burial,” the statement said.
