Nnamdi Kanu’s Lawyers Vow Legal Action over Supreme Court’s Sinister Delay in Certifying Judgment

Special Counsel Aloy Ejimakor, representing Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has expressed his commitment to taking legal action following the Supreme Court’s failure to provide Certified True Copies (CTCs) of the judgment required for his client’s trial.

Ejimakor conveyed this determination after meeting with Kanu at the Department of State Services (DSS) headquarters in Abuja, accompanied by Prince Emma Kanu.

During their discussions, the persistent delay by the Supreme Court in certifying its judgment and transmitting the case file to the High Court emerged as a significant concern. Ejimakor, in a statement, highlighted the constitutional violation, emphasizing Kanu’s entitlement to receive copies of the judgment within seven days of its delivery on December 15, 2023. He asserted that this right is fundamental and enforceable.

Notably, the Supreme Court had previously rejected an appeal for the release of Kanu from detention. The court overturned the Appeal Court’s ruling that had acquitted Kanu of all terrorism charges, setting the stage for ongoing legal challenges.
