Ogun State Governor Calls on Traditional Rulers to Sustain Advisory Role in State Development

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has urged traditional rulers in the state to maintain their commitment to providing valuable solutions and recommendations that positively influence government policies for the benefit of the people. Speaking at the monthly meeting of the state Council of Obas, held at the Obas’ Complex in Abeokuta, Governor Abiodun acknowledged the significant role played by traditional rulers in contributing to the state’s status as the fastest-growing economy in Nigeria.

He emphasized their vital contributions to maintaining peace at the grassroots, positioning Ogun State as a recognized industrialized and preferred investment destination.

Governor Abiodun expressed gratitude for the collaboration of traditional rulers, citing their assistance in addressing challenges such as fuel subsidy. Emphasizing the importance of their partnership in realizing the state’s development goals encapsulated in the “ISEYA” mantra, the governor assured that his administration would continue to prioritize and honor the traditional institution throughout its tenure. The commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat, further encouraged the traditional rulers to leverage their positions for the overall development of the state.

In response, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, the chairman of the Ogun State Council of Obas and paramount ruler of Remoland, commended the government for its generosity. He also appealed for the extension of such gestures to those who have not yet benefited, emphasizing the importance of inclusive development initiatives.
