Ayo Dosunmu: Nigerian-American Basketball Talent Signs $21Million Deal with Chicago Bulls

Nigerian-American basketballer Ayo Dosunmu has signed a three-year deal with the Chicago Bulls for $21 million. Reports initially indicated that the Bulls guard might have ended his tenure at Chicago Bulls, who was a restricted free agent, until the deal that had the 23-year-old return to the Bulls for the next few seasons.

Speaking on his recent deal with Chicago Bulls Dosunmu said,

“First, this is a blessing, and I’m honored to be a part of this situation, be a part of this event, but I also come into this knowing I’ve got a long way to go. I know there’s a lot more for me to accomplish, and I want more. I also know there are some people at home right now that didn’t make the Rising Stars Game, who

were drafted higher than me or even felt like I did on draft night, and they’re going to come back for more, come at me for more.

“So I always try and treat myself with the ‘glass half empty mentality. You have to motivate yourself to be better. I know how this game goes, and I still know I have to prove things to people. I need to show them that they made a mistake leaving me to the second round.”

Over his first two seasons, Dosunmu has averaged 8.7 points, 2.9 assists, and 2.8 rebounds in 26.8 minutes per performance for Chicago Bulls. He was named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team in 2022, and he was named to the Rising Stars Game at All-Star Weekend in February.

Since the start of the season in February 2023, he has averaged 11 points, 7.4 assists, and 3.3 rebounds per game for the Bulls.

With his new three-year contract, Dosunmu will undoubtedly look to improve his offensive game while continuing to be a plus on the defensive end.
