FCTA to end Herdsmen, Scavengers Lawlessness in Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) in Abuja has announced its efforts to address the destructive activities of herdsmen and scavengers in the city. The FCTA aims to curb cattle herding within the Federal Capital City and the activities of scavengers known as Baban bola.

The Director of the FCTA Department of Security Services, Adamu Gwary, made this announcement after a security committee meeting. Security agencies have been directed to take appropriate measures to tackle these issues. Additionally, the upcoming G7 meeting in July will initiate collaborative security operations to combat kidnappings and other violent crimes in the FCT and surrounding states.

The FCT Commissioner of Police assured residents of a peaceful religious celebration and emphasized the safety measures put in place. The meeting, chaired by the FCTA Permanent Secretary, involved military and para-military officials, religious and traditional leaders, and relevant FCTA officers.
