Ogwumike, Ogunbowale: Two Nigerian-American Female Basketballers Drafted For 2023 WNBA All-Stars!

Two Nigerian-American female basketballers, Arike Ogunbowale and Nneka Ogwumike have been selected for the 2023 WNBA all-star game. Both were chosen as starters for the game

In May, Dallas Wings guard, Arike Ogunbowale won the WNBA Western Conference Player of the month for. She averaged 25.3 points across four games placing third in the WNBA in scoring

Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA, to immigrant parents Yolanda and Gregory Ogunbowale, Arike is of Nigerian descent.

Nneka Ogwumike was named the 2023 WNBA All-Star starter for the second consecutive season. She earned All-Star honors for the eighth time in her WNBA career.

Ogwumike has appeared in 12 of 13 Sparks games this season. She is averaging 19.7 points, 9.5 rebounds, and a career high 3.5 assists per game.

Notably, the 10 starters selected for the 2023 WNBA All-Star Game, were chosen by a combination of fan voting (50%), media voting (25%), and player voting (25%).
