Ezeaku: Igbo Traditional Religion Preacher Arrested amid Suspicions of Anambra Police Misuse of Power!

In Nkpor, near Onitsha, the Anambra State Police Command apprehended Mr. Mathias Ezeaku, a traditional preacher operating a worship center critical of Christianity. Ezeaku, known for denouncing pastors as fake, faced resistance during his Sunday morning arrest at the worship center.

A social media video depicted Ezeaku resisting arrest, with his followers putting up stiff opposition, resulting in sporadic gunshots and one member sustaining a leg injury.

Earlier on Sunday, Ezeaku had urged members via Facebook to join him for worship at Amafor Town Hall Nkpor. Following the arrest, some of his supporters marched to the Police Annex in Awkuzu, expressing discontent and claiming that the arresting operatives failed to produce a warrant or properly identify themselves.

Despite these events, the Anambra State Police Command spokesperson, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, denied knowledge of Ezeaku’s arrest. Ikenga assured further clarification once the information is confirmed, leaving the circumstances surrounding the preacher’s apprehension shrouded in uncertainty.
