A middle-aged butcher, Zaiyanu Abdullahi, has been apprehended by the Niger state police for raping a 13-year-old girl.
Reports revealed that Abdullahi held the girl in captivity for three months, where he sexually abused her repeatedly with his friends, who are now at large.
During a police investigation, the victim identified Abdullahi among other men who took turns raping her.
The accused faces an offense that contravenes sections 15 (2), 25 (2), and 27 (2) of Niger state child right and protection law 2021.
He has since been charged before a Minna magistrate court where he pleaded not guilty, demanding the police to investigate further into the case.
The court therefore adjourned the case to further hearing on September 21, 2023, while he was being remanded to prison.
