Lady Amarachi Nwanozie: Abia Beloved Local Farmer Dies from Rape, Investigations Underway

In a heartbreaking incident, a beloved local farmer, 53-year-old Amarachi Nwanozie, was found dead near her farmland in Ngwama village, located in Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area of Abia State. The discovery was made by the Abia State Community Policing/Vigilante Service after Nwanozie’s husband reported her missing two days prior.

Nwanozie, who was known and respected for her significant contributions to farming within the community, went missing last Tuesday. Concerns arose when she failed to return home from her farm that evening, prompting her husband to alert the authorities.

Upon receiving the report, the Abia State Community Policing and Vigilante Group in Isiala Ngwa South, in conjunction with members of the Ngwama community, organized a search party. Unfortunately, the team found Nwanozie’s body near her farm on Thursday. There were indications that the woman may have been sexually assaulted, as evidenced by injuries found on her body.

Beside Nwanozie’s remains were her mobile phone and a bundle of cassava stems. Her body was subsequently transported and stored at an undisclosed mortuary for further examination.

The Isiala Ngwa South Community Policing and Vigilante Group have since apprehended six individuals who are suspected to be involved in the crime. These suspects were transferred to the Omoba Division of the Nigeria Police for further investigation.

The Abia State Police Command has not yet released an official statement regarding this incident. When asked about the case, Police Public Relations Officer Chioma Maureen Chinaka informed reporters that her office had not yet received detailed information about the crime.
