Air Peace Tackles Acculturation, Offers Lagos-London Discount Flights to Nigerian Students

Air Peace Limited, Nigeria’s largest carrier, has unveiled a special discount program for Nigerian students studying in the UK as it prepares to inaugurate its Lagos-London route starting March 30, 2024. Dr. Allen Onyema, Chairman and CEO of Air Peace, announced the initiative during a recent address to travel brokers in Lagos.

The discounted fares aim to facilitate easier and more affordable travel for students during holidays and academic breaks, fostering closer connections between Nigerian students abroad and their homeland.

Emphasizing the importance of preventing abuse of the offer, Onyema underscored the significance of enabling periodic visits for students to stay connected with their families and culture, thereby discouraging permanent relocation abroad. The initiative reflects Air Peace’s commitment to supporting the Nigerian student community in the UK and promoting cultural ties between Nigeria and the diaspora.

Bankole Bernard, former President of the National Association of Nigeria Travel Agencies (NANTA), commended Air Peace’s London route as a positive step towards achieving balance in air travel between Nigeria and the UK. With Air Peace securing a daily slot to Gatwick, the move signifies a shift towards a more equitable distribution of air traffic, countering the dominance of heritage carriers and fostering fair competition in the market.

Oluwatoyin Olajide, Chief Operating Officer of Air Peace, highlighted the significance of the London route as a milestone for the Nigerian aviation industry. She emphasized the airline’s commitment to providing quality service at affordable rates, marking a historic entry into the European market.

The launch of the Lagos-London route not only enhances Air Peace’s global reach but also contributes to Nigeria’s economic development by bolstering international trade and tourism.
